A baby's giggle is the most non-brand addictive sound in the world

I am not lying. According to this website (http://www.fastcompany.com/article/the-most-addictive-sounds-in-the-world-advertising-neuromarketing), it's true. The most "branded" addictive sound in the world is the Intel theme whatever.
I just find that weird. I feel like this article isn't really that correct.
A) How did the Monday Night Football theme not get on here
B) It shouldn't say "in the world." Maybe in the U.S. but I don't think people in other countries are addicted to the national anthem.. just a thought

Anyway, I'm currently sitting in my favorite booth in the Den, next to these two
foreign students. Do you ever get the feeling that people are talking about you?
Yeah, I am definitely feeling that now. I don't understand a word they are saying
(I'm pretty sure it's Japanese)
And they keep looking at me. I don't like it.
But have you ever felt that way? You can just tell.
Like, when you walk into a room/group and they all stop talking.
Obviously they were just talking about you or something you shouldn't here.
Otherwise, why would they have stopped?
Hmm..

Another one of my biggest pet peeves is when I email someone
and then they don't email me back for days!
Honestly, who doesn't check their email everyday?
Especially a college student! I check mine all the time.
Even on my phone! Come on people. It's important.
Speaking of which.. I have to send an email..

Ha! I understood Tokyo! Sorry, I'm still eavesdropping
Oh shoot, now they're leaving. Now my entertainment is gone.
I had just started to make a conversation for them, and now they have departed.
Crap.
What's funny is that they are both in a class of mine, but I never actually
realized that they speak Japanese, even though they are both from Japan.
Go me.

So, who's excited for break?! Yeah, me too.
I am so happy that it's only three days away.
But the bad thing is that I have a test on Friday.
And I have two papers to write over break.
One is fifteen pages. The other is five.
FML.

Oh my goodness, I was in SUCH a bad mood yesterday.
Which is shocking, since I'm never in a bad mood. I'm usually happy.
But not yesterday. I blame it on my lack of sleep (I didn't get to bed until 5:30 Monday morning and woke up at 7:30...yeah)
I skipped two classes and then I had to work.. blah.
And people just make me so angry at work. Especially those football players
that come in right at 5:15. They make so sooo annngrrryy.. They make
such a frickin' mess and they think they own the place.
Tools.
Douchebags.
Jerks.
Oh yes, I hate them.
Don't you ever just wake up mad at the world sometimes?
Or am I the only one?
I woke up and I was just like.. I hate everything and everyone.
It's a good thing no one really talked to me
or that could have been bad... eek.

I have yet to find a layout I like for this blog.
I just keep changing it and changing it and changing it.
But I can't help it.
I'm indecisive okay? Don't judge me.

Hmm, what else to talk about?
Oh yes, the WEATHER! Oh my dear Lord have you been outside today?
(Okay so in Iowa, it's fabulous. Other places, not so much).
It's gorgeous! I do believe it got up to about 40 today and it's like summer!
Yeah, not quite, but hot DOG it was nicer than it has been.
And the sun is shining. And the snow is melting.
Now, don't get me wrong. I luurve snow.
But enough is enough, you know?
And this is coming from someone whose goal in life is to live in Alaska for a year.
Yeah, I'm crazy. I know this .
You're probably wondering, why Alaska?
Well, there are numerous reasons.
A) the gorgeous scenery
2) Hot lumberjacks ... hopefully
3) snow
4) because it's ALASKA!
and E) I like wearing winter gear

I just saw children walk by. It kind of freaks me out when children appear
at a non-child setting, like college.
"I hate when my hair gets to be in each one bit."
What does that even mean??
"I saw him go up to her and be like... 'I like you.' and then she's like 'ugh, go away.'"
"For reals? What did he do?"
"He freakin' kissed her!"
Oh little children drama. Okay, by little I mean.. maybe 13. Or maybe tall 10 year olds.
Who knows these days?

Oh no, I have a new guest. She looks angry and she's carrying this HUGE backpack.
Haha, I love creppin' on people.
So she pulled out this book, but sadly I can not see the cover.
Maybe she won't notice if I slowly look over my computer at her and then quickly look back.
I'm sort of slouching, so it'll just look like I'm sitting up straighter...
Nope, crap. She noticed. We made eye contact.
Crap crap crap. Abort mission.

The United States has 252,908,000 Internet users in the country, that's 74.2% of the population

And sadly, my parents are part of the 26% that does not.
Yeah, I lived a sad life.
Lately it seems I have been obsessed with the Internet. I mean, more than usual.
It's really addicting, oh especially that one site.. what's it called?
Oh yeah, YouTube.
I guess in the past, I never really paid that much attention to it. If I wanted to see
a music video or something, I'd look it up.
But there are some freakin' funny people on there!
No joke!
I subscribe (which I just learned how to do) to RayWilliamJohnson
and seriously, he's absolutely hilarious.
And his friend MeekaKitty is so weird, it's great.

Also, another site I just found is dailybooth.com.
It's.. different. You update with pictures and captions.
That's it.
So far, I have two followers and they both seem creepy.
We'll see how far that goes.

I also got a gmail (which is funny because Google doesn't recognize it was a word.. there's a little red squiggly line under it) and downloaded Google Chrome.
I just feel so.. connected and "in the know" which really doesn't make any sense.
These websites and other things have been around for awhile, I'm just slow.
I haven't had much Internet practice as everyone else.
Sheltered, remember?

Well, how about another topic? The Olympics?
Yeah, I haven't been as diligent as I have been in the past.
I've just been really busy okay? Don't judge.
I did watch a new Olympic sport=skicross.
Yeah, it's as weird as it sounds.
Basically it's a motorcross track covered in snow
and people ski on it in a race.
But yet I watched it for about three hours.
Again, don't judge.

Apollo (who I happen to be obsessed with) got a bronze yesterday
which is sad.
That dude totally pushed him out of the way
which seems illegal, but what do I know?
Oh wait.. nothing! Haha, j/k
But USA won that hockey game against Canada!
I think it was 5-2 (or 3) and it was awesome!
Okay, so I didn't watch it, but I heard it was awesome.

Well, this was short but I must depart.
Places to be, people to see, tests to take.
Blah blah blah

Here are the links for RWJ and Meekakitty!

4.93.6% of Twitter profiles have less than 100 followers and 92.4% follow less than 100 profiles

I am part of that statistic, sadly. I have exactly....30 followers and following 64 people, most of whom are celebrities and athletes because I'm creepy.
Oh yes, I am a Twitter-er.. Tweeter.. well whatever. I enjoy it.
And you know, I really don't know why. Summing up my thoughts in 140 words or less
is kind of a fun challenge.
I think that the popularity of Twitter will grow. It's fun, do it.. everyone else is.. *peer pressure*
Okay just kidding..

Today is February 15th, the day after Valentine's Day. And yes, I went another year without a Valentine. Guess what? I'm okay with it.
But I did get to go see the movie "Valentine's Day" and it was really good. It was just so.. happy and it put me in a good mood. I don't know if people expected it to be serious or something, but I don't understand why it's getting so many mixed reviews. People, it was good! And a good date movie, not that I would know.

I experienced my first Waterloo Black Hawk game of the season. I'm a little behind, I know this, but it's better late than never right? Yeah, I know, not all the time.
But still, hockey is so much fun to watch live. On TV, it's not as fun. Which I feel is the same for all sports, but whatever. They won, in case you were wondering. 3-2 in overtime. There were no fights, which was disappointing. And I really like going for another reason: the cute guys! Ha, yeah I know this is a totally girly blah blah reason for going, but dang it, they are adorable.
(minus all the bruises and chipped teeth and blood).

So I've been looking up YouTube videos and I've picked out a few of my favorites

Wii Fit Parady: my favorite part is 1:15
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iYBmAVuBns&feature=grec
"The Wii Fit looks great with anything from IKEA.."

We Are The World-Artists for Haiti
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQqCTaRTqrQ
We all must come together to help these people in their time of need.

And that's it for Monday's rendition of my random thoughts. I guess I have to go to work now. Who knows when I'll post next. Maybe when I have time.. yeah right.

Figure skating was the first winter sport included in the Olympic Games when it appeared at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London

top left: the beautiful surprise ice skating rink
top right: a pretty shadow
bottom right: me and two of the greatest friends you could ask for :)
I would like to explain these awesome pictures to you, since they were taken by an awesome photographer.. me! I will after I talk about my great weekend! First of many this semester..

So, it was the first week of classes and I survived. I know, shocking right?
I don't really don't think they'll be that bad, but I'm sort of freaking about my business minor.
But I have learned that stressing out really doesn't do that much good
so I've cut bad on stress. It's not healthy.
Friday.. what did I do? Oh yes, I went shopping.
We were originally going out to eat and see the movie "Nine"
but that didn't happen. My roommate and I decided to stay in and have a girl's night
which turned into going shopping for a long time.
Came back with an awesome vest and fake nails.
And I'm pretty proud of myself for still having them on! But I work tomorrow which will be the true test of their strength and durability.

Saturday was a very long but fun day. My sister is getting married in September so we went wedding dress shopping.
Left at about 8:30 AM, got back around 6:30 PM.. yeah
But it was productive, since she found her dress and our bridesmaids' dresses.
That night was an ETK event, which basically rocked. A band called Lovesick Radio played for about an hour. I was sad because I thought (and wished) it would have been longer.

Oh well, right? The drummer was hot and that was nice :) We sat in the back and jammed out. They left the houselights up so I'm pretty sure they saw us make fools out of ourselves, but it was fun anyway. I bought their CD and am listening to it now actually. It's really good and I'd recommend it to those who like rock with pop influences. They're not afraid to play whatever they want and I really like that.

Today was great. Went shopping again and bought this kick-ass Rockband shirt for $2.19. Epic.
It was foggy and it looked extremely pretty out. So two friends and I went out to take pictures.
I took a lot and it was a ton of fun. We discovered this awesome ice rink on the frozen river and it was so beautiful. I seriously want to go back tomorrow. It was getting really dark and the fog was thick. It was peaceful and quiet..
I felt like a little kid. I have never been ice skating in my life and this was sort of my introduction. I liked it that no one else was there and we could enjoy it ourselves.

I wish I knew how to actually ice skate so I could do it there. I can't even describe to you how gorgeous it was and how much fun we had there. I loved it.

Tomorrow is MLK Day and our classes are shortened in honor of one of the most influenctial figures in the black rights movement. I think classes should be cancelled in general, but my opinion does not matter! It's a day to remember how far we've come in equality and to never take our rights and freedoms for granted. People have put their lives on the line to give us the life that we live today.

Sorry, I guess I'm feeling philosphical today. Strange, that rarely happens. I guess the serenity of the ice rink really got to me. I really can't express out beautiful it was. I have a smile on my face just thinking about it. I seriously felt like a kid in candy shop when we discovered it.

I'm going to go and work on editing picture that we took that day. If you're lukcy, I'll put more on here. But I'm still figuring out how to work this thing so who knows!

In Iowa, it is illegal for a man with a mustache to kiss a woman in public

As a resident of Iowa, I find this shocking! I see mustached men kissing women all the time.. maybe I will have to make a citizen's arrest next time. I had a thought, a day dream if you will. I pictured me, walking down main street in my hometown, and I witness a man with a mustache kissing his wife/girlfriend/whatever. I see this, take off running, and tackel him. "Sir," I will say, "you have broken the law. In Iowa, it is illegal for a man with a mustache to kiss a women in public. To the police station we go!" and I take him to the police station, which so happens to be right across the street. I'm pretty sure that would lead to my arrest also, but it was worth it.
Tonight is New Year's Eve.. the night to party and celebrate the ending of 2009 and the beginning of 2010. Oh yes, I will be celebrating also. I am soon travelling a whole block to my brother's house. There, my sister, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, father, and six nieces/nephews will party it up. Ha, yeah we sure party. At least I'll have a drink or two (don't worry, I'm 21, I promise).
I read an article that tonight is a blue moon, which is the second full moon of the month. Some strange things are going to happen.. dun dun dun. I just pray that everyone I know will be safe. I don't believe in creepy full moon lore (or luck, for that matter) so people will just act weird because they can.
Okay, I guess I have to go. Turns out we're leaving like, right this minute.

French kissing involves all 34 muscles in the face. A pucker kiss involves only two.

I know right? Who would have thought French kissing could be a work out?

Learn something new every day right? True story.

I am officially on break now and couldn't be happier.

Currently, I'm wrapped up in a blanket, sipping hot chocolate and eating star cookies.

I was contemplating a nap, but thought against it.

Who naps?

Which brings me to another random story that happened yesterday..

Tuesday night I didn't get much sleep and woke up Wednesday exhausted.

Finals.. ugh

Plus it doesn't help that the guys that live below me listen to their TV like my granfather..

Max volume.

I got back to my room and wanted to nap. So I set my alarm for 12:45, just a power nap.

Turns out I didn't set my alarm

Woke up at 5:02. That is not a nap! That's like a mini coma!

I mean really, 5 hours..

Today is December 17th 2009. I looked up the "this day in history" and it turns out

today was the day that the Wright Brothers had their first successful flight in 1903

How awesome is that?

I want everyone (or anyone) who reads this blog to do me a favor and check out an acapella group called Straight No Chaser. I only have their Christmas CD but it's so good. I have an obsession with men's singing voices. I could listen to acapella for hours and not get bored.

Their Christmas Can-Can is the funniest Christmas song I've heard in awhile.

My fav Xmas song is Baby It's Cold Outside by Dean Martin.

Oh shoot, now I have to go. I must babysit my little nieces.

Adults can't dream and snore at the same time

I'm thinking of having a random fact as my title every time I blog.

It's just interesting. I didn't know that people can't snore and dream at once.

Sometimes, dreams freak me out. Seriously, I dream about weird things.

Or at least, I think I do. Does anyone actually remember their dreams?

Ha, there is one that sticks in my mind.

I believe I was about eight when I had it. I got out of bed and these little

red devil men were all over my room. But I didn't freaked out.

Instead, I punched each one in the face and they died.

Then I woke up. What does that mean?

Yeah, I don't know either.

Well, it's that time of year. You guessed it..

Finals. The original F word.

Seriously, it's like a curse word..

And when you say it, people know exactly what you're feeling.

"Hey Morgan, how's it going?"

My response? "Finals" and you give the look like.. ugh, shoot me.

And they nod and say, "Yeah I know the what you mean."

I think it's sort of funny, but wrong.

Also, it happens to be that time of year..

CHRISTMAS!

As we all know, this is my favorite of all holidays.

Our dorm room is decked out in lights and we even put

spray on snow on our windows (like we need it, at least two feet of it out there).

I can't wait to go home and see our tree and all the presents.

But that's not what it so important about Christmas.

I went to the candlelight service the other night and Pastor Ramona

brought up an interesting thought.

We all seem to forget about the original reason of Christmas.

I mean, hello? The birth of Jesus? Sort of important right?

Yeah, I think so too.

Sorry, total topic change. Must tell a story.

My roommate and I traveled to Subway the other day and it was freezing (literally) outside.

We walk in, my glasses fog over immediately. I excuse myself to the bathroom, since I must

"use the facilities."

I take off my glasses because I can not see. And I happen to be very blind without them.

I remove my gloves and I believe I see a shelf in the bathroom that I can put my gloves on.

And then my gloves disappeared! It was a magic shelf. It ate them up.
Turns out it was a garbage can and I threw my gloves in the trash. Whoops.

I have to keep this short, since I'm going to bed shortly.

There is a final presentation waiting for me at 8 AM tomorrow morning.

It ought to be interesting.

A presentation Wednesday at 8:30 AM

A presentation Thursday at 12:00

And a test Thursday, the time is undecided.

Then it's break time.

Adios dear bloggers. I will write to you when the time is right.

Which means when I get an internet connection :)

I'll be adding some bits and pieces of papers/stories I've written in the past just because I can. I have to share them with someone!

Also, I love this little poem thing I found about finals three years ago when I was a wee freshman.

Twas the night before finals,
And all through the college,
The students were praying
For last minute knowledge.
Most were quite sleepy
But none touched their beds,
While visions of essays
Danced in their heads.
Out in the taverns
,A few were still drinking,
And hoping that liquor
Would loosen their thinking.
In my own dorm room,
I had been pacing,
And dreading exams
I soon would be facing.
My roommate was speechless,
His nose in his books,
And my comments to him
Drew unfriendly looks.
I drained all the coffee,
And brewed a new pot,
No longer caring
That my nerves were all shot.
I stared at my notes
But my thoughts were all muddy
My eyes went ablur,
I just couldn't study.
"Some pizza might help,"
I thought with a shiver,
But each place that I called
Refused to deliver.
I'd nearly concluded
That life was too cruel,
With futures depending
On grades had in school.
When all of a sudden,
Our door opened wide,
And Patron Saint Put It Of
fAmbled inside.
His spirit was careless,
His manner was mellow,
He looked straight at me,
And started to bellow:
"What kind of studentWould make such a fuss
To toss back at teachers
What they tossed at us?"
"On Cliff Notes! On Crib Notes!
On Last Year's Exams!
On Wingit and Slingit,
And Last Minute Crams!"
His message delivered,
He vanished from sight,
But we heard him laughing
Outside in the night.
"Your teachers have pegged you,
So just do your best.
Happy Finals to All,
And to all a good test."
